Justice
Justice is Project Eden's in-house punishment plugin used to effectively and fairly manage the punishment of rule-breakers on the server. This page is primarily designed for moderators (and potential future moderators) to get a better understanding of the different types of punishments and when to apply them. If you are currently banned and seeking to have your ban reversed, please fill in our appeal form.
Punishments
Moderators have many different tools at their disposal to maintain the peace of the server.
Verbal Warnings
Verbal warnings such as a casual conversation in chat may be sufficient for handling very minor or accidental incidents. However, in any moderate instance, logged warnings are generally recommended so that other staff members can be made aware of the situation and factor it in to larger decisions like ban appeals.
Warnings
If a new player has broken a rule, especially non-maliciously, a warning is likely all that is needed to inform the player that their behavior is not acceptable. This is done automatically when using the /ymc <player> [warn...]
command, though it may also be done manually using /warn <player> <reason>
.
Watchlist
If you believe a player to be using a hacked client but aren't quite sure, you should create a watchlist entry for that player. The watchlist is a private database of questionable players which the server keeps track of and alerts staff members when they join the server. Users may also be added to the watchlist if they seem to be causing problems but have not quite clearly violated any rules. Players can be added to the watchlist using /watchlist <player> <reason...>
.
Mutes
If an established member of the community is acting up in chat, a mute is recommended to give the member(s) time to cool down from whatever incident occurred. Mutes can be issued using /mute <player> [time/reason...]
.
Kicks
Kicks are used to immediately disconnect a player from the server. Their application is quite limited, but they made be performed using /kick <player> [reason...]
Bans
Temporary bans and permanent bans are a last resort for trying to ensure players follow our rules. They may be applied to players who have been repeatedly warned, to new players being offensive in chat, to players who blatantly disregard the server's rules and community, etc. Bans may be issued using /ban <player> [time/reason...]
.
History
When deciding how to punish someone, you should always check the player's history to see if they've been previously warned or punished. This can be done in-game using the /history <player>
command or in your browser by visiting the Justice webpage.
Miscellaneous
- Any punishment command that accepts a
time
argument can optionally be suffixed with--now
to force the punishment timer to start immediately instead of waiting for the punished player to come back online. - The time that a punishment should last can be inserted before or after the punishment reason.
